Charlie Avella - Founder
Charlie trained as a Professional Dancer at The London Studio Centre attaining a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Theatre. Her extensive performing career has spanned the last decade and taken her all over the world, performing as both dancer and aerialist in prestigous Theatres, Contemporary Circuses, Casinos, luxury Cruise Liners, Opera Houses and Night Venues. Credits include Michael McPherson's ground-breaking 'Solstice', 'Four' at Casino Estoril and 'Anna Nicole' at The Royal Opera House.
Having returned from working in the States as a Trapeze artist in 2009 Charlie stumbled upon a Pole class and discovered a natural affinity with the art of Pole. Already equipped with the necessary strength, Charlie was intrigued by how easily transferable her aerial skills were to the pole. In turn she found an enlightened respect for pole practitioners and became resolute to raise the profile of this deeply skilled athletic sport. Charlie had been teaching pole in London gyms and dance studios for three years before founding 'The Putney Pole Studio' in 2012. In 2016 Charlie became a proud mother to Hamish and in 2017 to her second son Cameron. Having temporarily retired from the stage, today Charlie largely works as an Educator in Dance, Aerial and Pole Fitness, both at 'The Putney Pole Studio' and 'The National Centre for Circus Arts , where she teaches on the Dance and Aerial Faculty. |
